Apex Verandas designs, supplies and fits commercial canopies, smoking shelters, covered walkways and glass rooms across Northern Ireland and Ireland. Every job gets a free site visit, a drawing and a fixed written quote.

Pubs and beer gardens

Covered seating and smoking shelters built to the 50% open rule in Northern Ireland and the Republic. A 6m shelter is usually fitted in a day.

Hotels and restaurants

Glass-roof terraces, louvred roofs and glass rooms that add covers you can use from March to October.

Cafés and garden centres

All-weather café seating with sliding glass that opens up in summer and stays dry in winter.

Schools and crèches

Covered play areas, entrance canopies, covered walkways and outdoor classrooms. Spans up to 7m on two posts keep yards clear.

Ó Murchú in Kilnamartyra, Co. Cork, fitted in June. Sliding glass opens the room up on a fine day and closes it in when the weather turns, so the seating earns its keep all year.

Common questions

Do smoking shelters have to be open?

In Ireland, an outdoor smoking area with a roof can be enclosed on no more than half of its perimeter, so at least half must stay open (Northern Ireland has a similar rule). We design every shelter to the rule and mark the open sides on the drawing.

Do you work for main contractors?

Yes. We price from drawings and work as a subcontractor on schools, healthcare and student housing.

Can you fit on a site that stays open?

Yes. We fitted a covered MRI link at Tallaght University Hospital while the hospital stayed open.

How long does it take?

Usually 6 to 8 weeks from order to fitting, then 1 to 3 days on site for most jobs.

Do I need planning permission?

It depends on the site and the structure. We give you drawings and a written specification; check with your council or building control.

What warranty do you give?

Every job comes with a written warranty: 5 years on the powder-coated finish, up to 10 years on polycarbonate roof sheets, glass covered under the manufacturer's terms, and 2 years on our workmanship.

Do you supply only?

Yes, for builders and trade customers.
