Pergolas in Galway
Apex Verandas supplies and fits aluminium pergolas across Galway and the West: louvred roofs that open and close, retractable fabric roofs and fixed glass roofs, fixed to the house or freestanding. You can see them at our showroom on the Tuam Road, and every pergola gets a fixed quote after we measure.

Pergola roofs
- Louvred roof (Pinela): aluminium blades that open for sun and air and close for rain. Motorised as standard. See louvred roof pergolas.
- Folding fabric roof (Verdeca): a fabric roof that folds back at the press of a remote, 4m, 5m or 6m wide. See retractable roof pergolas.
- Glass roof: the most light all year, with no moving parts. See glass verandas.
Adding sides
Frameless glass sliding doors open right back in summer, and a solid aluminium wall gives privacy on the side facing the neighbours. Most people close in one or two sides; close in every side and you have a glass room. See pergola with roof and sides for every option.
Pergolas across Galway, Mayo and Clare
We fit pergolas in Galway city and all over the county, including Oranmore, Athenry, Tuam, Loughrea, Gort, Ballinasloe, Oughterard and Connemara, and into Mayo and Clare. A louvred roof suits the West well: open the blades on a dry day for sun and air, and close them when the rain comes in. Recent Galway jobs include a glass room with frameless glass sliding doors, fitted as part of a full garden makeover.
See them on the Tuam Road
Our Galway showroom is on the Tuam Road, Galway (H91 F59Y), with pergolas and verandas on display. It’s open Monday to Saturday. Book a time before you come so one of the team is there to show you round, or call 087 639 8786.
How it works
- See it. Visit the Tuam Road showroom, or send us a photo of your garden.
- Measure. We visit, measure up and talk through roofs and sides.
- Fixed quote. One price for supply and fitting, with no obligation.
- Fitting. Lead time is usually 6 to 8 weeks from order. Our own team does the fitting: an open pergola is usually fitted in a day, and one closed in with glass takes 2 to 4 days.
Common questions
Do I need planning permission for a pergola in Galway?
It depends on the size of the pergola and where it sits, so check with Galway City Council or Galway County Council (or Mayo or Clare County Council) before you order. We’ll give you the exact size and height to ask them about.
How much does a pergola cost?
It depends on the size, the roof and how many sides you close in. We measure up and give you a fixed quote. Our veranda cost guide shows typical prices.
Can a pergola stand away from the house?
Yes. Our pergolas can be fixed to the house or stand free on their own posts, for example over a patio at the end of the garden.
Is the roof insulated?
No. None of our pergola roofs is insulated, so think of it as covered outdoor space rather than an extension.
How long does it take?
Lead time is usually 6 to 8 weeks from order. An open pergola is usually fitted in a day; one closed in with glass takes 2 to 4 days.
